Art
At St Augustine's we explore art through our 'Creative Curriculum' weaving art, expression and creativity into all aspects of our day.
Our high-quality art curriculum is designed to engage, inspire and challenge pupils, equipping them with the knowledge and skills to experiment, invent and create their own works of art . Each term the children will complete a project linked to their curriculum learning through one of the three core art curriculum skill sets. These are 'Sculpture', 'Painting and Drawing' and 'Collage and Printing'. in addition to this, through themed weeks and cultural celebrations children study how art can shape our history, and has contributed to the culture, creativity and wealth of our nation.
Each year group is allocated famous artists throughout the year to study in order develop techniques, appreciate a range of Artistic styles and generally to gain a love of Art in all its forms! See the links below to find our more about your current Artist.

Mental Health and Art
We believe at St Augustine's art is a wonderful way to tap into the full potential of all children across a range of curriculum areas. We use art as a way of response across the curriculum making it accessible for all. Art can be used to aid the mental health and awareness of teachers and children and in doing so, provide a platform for conversation. Our understanding for positive mental health has recently seen children participate in a "Drop it and Doodle" session using music and videos as a stimulus for release.

Careers in the Curriculum
We want all of our pupils to feel inspired about the future that they could have and the pathways that can lead them there. Harnessing their interest areas and talents, we remain focused on 'Careers in the Curriculum' and continue to reach out to partners and organisations who can support us in our mission to inspire the next generation. In the attached document, you can explore with your child a wide range of careers available to them through Art and Design.
